Heart behind the song:
The purpose of the song is for humility, for us to view the fall of Adam and Eve and realize we are no better.
If any of us been in their place we would have done the same because of sinful nature and a loving God that gives us free will.
But because God is so good, He still made a way for us to dwell with Him forever, through Jesus.
Lyrics
It started with Adam and Eve
That picked the fruit from the tree
The downward spiral of humanity
And that's what we all see
Now on this cursed and wicked land
In the dwelling place of Satan's hand
We see things unfolding in catastrophe
What God designed as a masterpiece
For us
Who are we?
To think we wouldn't do the same
As Adam and Eve
To pick a fruit from that tree
And ruin all for humanity
Who are we?
But God has shown His love
Shown it time and time again
Pursuing us even when we rebel
And sometimes we fail to let Him in
Our sinful ways help us to reprimand
So who are we?
To think we wouldn't do the same
As Adam and Eve
To pick a fruit from that tree
And ruin all for humanity
Who are we?
So we thank You
We thank You Lord
Thank You for the cross
For the sacrifice You made
Oh how significant the debt You paid
For us Your life You laid
And the example for us You displayed
To turn from our wicked ways
Who are we?
To think we wouldn't do the same
As Adam and Eve
To pick a fruit from that tree
And ruin all for humanity
Who are we?
Who are we, Who are we
To deserve such a good God
A gracious and patient God
