Behind The Album "Through The Valley"
Inspiration From the Book of Psalms
"Through The Valley" is an album that I started in the middle of a personal difficult season. This album is mostly based out of the book of Psalms. Mainly focused on the scriptures of being overwhelmed, in a difficult season but still choosing to trust God, even when things don't make sense.
There are 2 songs specifically, where I felt extremely overwhelmed, wanting to isolate myself, even away from my wife and kids. But instead of reacting in that way, I chose to open the Word of God, which provided immediate comfort and a calm peace. In the two instances where that happened, two deeply personal songs to me came out of that, "Trusting You" & "I Will Believe You".
My hope is this album is impactful to many as it has been for myself.
The Heart Behind the Music: Stories of Faith & Grace
I want to share the "why" behind a few songs that are particularly close to my heart. My hope is that these tracks do more than just provide a melody—I pray they have a lasting spiritual impact on everyone who listens.
1. I Believe
I wrote "I Believe" with two specific groups of people in mind: those who haven’t yet accepted Christ, and those who feel they’ve drifted in their walk with Him. I intentionally structured this song as a prayer of surrender, allowing listeners to literally give their lives to Jesus through the lyrics as they sing along.
2. Reconciled With You
"Reconciled With You" was written to provide a biblical perspective on the weight of sin. While I firmly believe in the security of our salvation, I wanted to write a song that focuses on the seriousness of sin from a believer’s heart—emphasizing repentance and the beauty of a restored relationship with God.
3. Take Every Thought Captive
Based on the exhortation in 2 Corinthians 10:5, this song is about the daily battle for the mind. "Take Every Thought Captive" is a musical reminder for Christians to guard their thoughts, bringing every impulse and worry into obedience to Christ.
4. Self Control
This song dives deep into the struggle against temptation. It’s a call to seek the Lord’s strength in our pursuit of holiness. I was inspired by the Apostle Paul’s writings on the importance of Self Control, and I felt it was only fitting to weave the classic hymn "I Need Thee Every Hour" into the arrangement. It perfectly captures our constant need for His grace.
